(ANSA) - ROME, 12 OTT - Lazio pulled level with champions Inter at the top of Serie A on Sunday with a 3-1 home win over Monza, while AS Roma, AC Milan and Juventus all dropped points.
Goals by Nuno Tavares, Gustav Isaksen and substitute Andrea Pinamonti put Lazio on 16 points from six games, second on goal difference to Inter, who thumped Parma 3-0 at San Siro on Saturday.
The Rome side have made a strong start despite most of their fans boycotting their home games in protest at how Chairman Claudio Lotito is running the club and widespread initial scepticism about the appointment in the close season of coach Gennaro Gattuso, who failed to lead Italy to qualification for the 2026 World Cup in his previous job.
Roma are two points further back in third after a goalless draw at Como in which their Dutch striker Donyell Malen, Serie A's top scorer, was sent off for a dangerous tackle.
Surprise package Cagliari are fourth with 13 points after holding Juventus to a 1-1 draw in Sardinia.
Juve are sixth with 11 points, while Milan are fifth with 12 after being held 1-1 at Sassuolo. (ANSA).
