Nguyen Quoc Nguyen (Hana Card), Vietnam's leading billiards player, lifted his second career trophy on the Professional Billiards Association (PBA) tour.
Nguyen defeated Spanish powerhouse David Martinez 4-1 (15-10, 15-14, 15-9, 4-15, 15-7) in the PBA final of the Crown Haitai PBA-LPBA Championship, the fourth event of the 2026-2027 season, held on the 12th at the KINTEX PBA Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
Nguyen, who claimed his first title at the ninth event of the 2025-2026 season, won his second individual PBA tour title 252 days later, becoming the first Vietnamese player to do so. Following Nguyen Tran Thanh Thao's win at the third event, Vietnamese players have now taken the top spot in two consecutive tournaments, extending their strong run.
Martinez, who was chasing a record ninth career PBA title, had to settle for runner-up.
After taking the first set 15-10, Nguyen led 10-3 in the second set before falling behind 10-14, then rallied to win 15-14. He carried that momentum into the third set, taking it 15-9 to seize control of the match.
"I am so overwhelmed and happy that I can't find the words," Nguyen said. "I fought with the mindset of challenging Martinez, the best player in the PBA, throwing myself at it with nothing to lose."
The PBA tour will hold the fifth event of the season, the NH Nonghyup Card PBA-LPBA Championship, at the same venue starting on the 18th.
