Stars Hit With Brutal Matt Duchene Injury News Amid Poor Start

The Dallas Stars have had a tough start to the season, as they have a 2-2-1 record and are sixth in the Central Division standings.

The Stars have been without key forward Matt Duchene this entire season so far due to injury. Now, the Stars have provided an update on Duchene, and it is undoubtedly bad news.

On Monday, Stars general manager Jim Nill announced that Duchene will be out for the next three months after undergoing surgery to repair a core injury.

With Duchene being an incredibly important part of the Stars' forward group, it is brutal that he is going to be out for the next three months. With this injury timeline, he is not expected to return until January.

The Stars will now need to adjust to not having Duchene in the lineup for a good chunk of the season. He has been one of their top offensive contributors for multiple seasons now, so it will not be easy for Dallas to replace him while he is out.

Duchene appeared in 57 games last season for the Stars, where he recorded 16 goals and 45 points. This was after the 17-year NHL veteran had 30 goals and 82 points in 82 games with Dallas during the 2024-25 season.
