LAHORE: Pakistan defeated England in the fourth game of the tri-series on Sunday at the Gaddafi Stadium because of Shadab Khan’s undefeated century.
With just one wicket left and 17 balls remaining, Pakistan managed to chase down the target of 242. With 113 off 96 balls and five sixes and thirteen fours, Shadab Khan stayed undefeated.
After the home team was reduced to 154-9 in 33.5 overs, Shadab Khan showed courage in the face of adversity by adding an undefeated 89* run partnership with Haris Rauf to help his team win. For his seven, Rauf had to face 19 deliveries; on the first ball of the 47th over, he scored the game-winning four.
For the third straight game, Pakistan’s starting pair did not contribute significantly. After scoring ten and six, respectively, Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were dismissed. For ten, Babar Azam was cleaned up. As a result, at 31-3 in seven overs, the Green Shirts were in terrible shape.
Saad Baig and Salman Ali Agha began recovery with a 43-run partnership after early wickets. Baig scored a quick 32 off 22 balls, including seven fours, before being caught; the scorecard showed 74. Arafat Minhas and Hasan Nawaz were soon dismissed by England in consecutive overs. After facing 33 balls, the former had a tough game and managed to score a slow 15 while the latter managed just one.
In the 28th over, Salman Ali Agha’s resistance also ended. With the help of two fours, he made 26 off 49. Pakistan thus fell from 74-4 to 122-7 after 29 overs. Before Rauf and Shadab formed a winning partnership, England kept taking wickets.
Jamie Overton successfully secured three crucial wickets while playing for the England national cricket team.
In addition, Pakistan qualified for the tri-series final with this incredible triumph against the Three Lions.
Earlier, Pakistan bowled England out for 241, with Shaheen Afridi leading the way with a four-wicket haul.
