Officials said Archana had completed immigration formalities and boarded the 2.20 pm flight when she was stopped as part of a wider investigation into alleged financial transactions intended to shield her father from prosecution, reported PTI.

R Veeramani, the 84-year-old chairman of Gem Granites, is lodged in Puzhal Central Prison. He faces at least seven cases under the POCSO Act over the alleged sexual abuse of several minor girls. The SIT is also examining his alleged connection to the suicide of a minor in 2004.

Police suspect Archana has crucial information about a series of cash and gold transactions. The transactions were allegedly carried out to conceal the abuse allegations and protect Veeramani from prosecution after the first complaint was filed in November 2024.

Police are also looking for Archana's brother, Prakash, in connection with the suspected financial cover-up, PTI reported, citing sources. Officials said the authorities have also initiated a Blue Corner Notice for another associate who is believed to have fled to the United Kingdom.

Archana was thus prevented from leaving for Singapore as the SIT widened its inquiry into the alleged financial efforts to protect Veeramani, while the search for her brother and another associate continued.
