Rita Wilson says she “would do anything” for Lena Dunham after confirming the Girls revival.
HBO and Dunham announced the comedy would return for five episodes in 2027, and Wilson teased she would reprise her role.
“That is what I’m hearing, so I don’t think Lena would be lying about that,” Wilson told People about the show’s revival.
Wilson noted that she was “so excited” about the reunion and added, “I mean, Lena is one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with. I would do anything for her. I would bend over backwards. And then I love Allison Williams who, you know, I was lucky enough to play her mom. I know Lena’s gotta be cooking up something very good.”
In the HBO series, Wilson played Evie Michaels, the mother of Allison Williams’ Marnie.
Girls ran for six seasons on HBO from 2012 to 2017. Created by Lena Dunham and produced by Judd Apatow, the series will return with five new episodes. Production for the limited-run series will begin in 2027, 10 years after the show’s last original episode.

Returning cast will include Dunham as Hannah, Allison Williams as Marnie, Jemima Kirke as Jessa, Zosia Mamet as Shoshanna, and Andrew Rannells as Elijah.
Dunham created, wrote, and directed Girls, and executive produced these episodes alongside Judd Apatow for Apatow Productions, Ilene S. Landress, and Michael P. Cohen for Good Thing Going. Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, and Andrew Rannells serve as co-executive producers.
