Brazilian football's "Alien," a World Cup winner and Ballon d'Or recipient, is coming back.
Ravenna, a club in Italy's third-tier Serie C, announced on the 23rd that Ronaldinho will play in the team's home match against local rivals Forli on Nov. 15. It will be his first competitive appearance in 11 years, since he ended his professional career at Brazil's Fluminense in 2015.
Ronaldinho starred for major clubs including FC Barcelona in Spain and AC Milan in Italy, and helped Brazil win the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan. He claimed the Ballon d'Or in 2005.
Ronaldinho signed with Ravenna in June and also bought a stake in the club, which is owned by his friend Ignazio Cipriani. The owner said signing Ronaldinho was meant "to bring the whole city closer to the club." Ravenna currently sits second in Serie C Group B with 20 points from 10 matches, eight points behind leader Spezia.
