Majeski Delivers Fastest Lap in Qualifying
Ty Majeski secured the pole position for Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Love’s RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, putting the ThorSport Racing driver in a strong position heading into one of the most unpredictable races of the season.
Driving the No. 88 Ford F-150, Majeski posted a lap of 53.983 seconds at 177.389 mph during the final round of qualifying. The performance earned him the top starting spot and marked another important achievement for the veteran driver.
Majeski narrowly beat Sammy Smith, who qualified second in the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports. Smith recorded a lap of 54.049 seconds, finishing just 0.066 seconds behind Majeski.
Strong Competition Behind the Pole Winner
Several championship contenders also qualified near the front of the field. Kaden Honeycutt secured the third starting position, followed by Giovanni Ruggiero in fourth and Cole Butcher in fifth.
Austin Green qualified sixth, while Tyler Ankrum and Corey Heim will start seventh and eighth, respectively. Layne Riggs, one of the leading championship contenders, qualified ninth, with Ben Rhodes completing the top 10.
The starting lineup sets up an interesting battle at Talladega, where drafting, teamwork and positioning in the closing laps often determine the outcome.
Talladega Presents a Different Challenge
Although Majeski has earned the best starting position, keeping that advantage will be difficult. Talladega’s 2.66-mile superspeedway is known for close racing, large drafting packs and the potential for multi-truck accidents.
Unlike shorter tracks, drivers must work together to maintain speed while carefully choosing when to move through the field. Even a fast truck can quickly lose track position if its driver becomes separated from the drafting pack.
Majeski will need help from his fellow Ford drivers while remaining alert to challenges from Chevrolet and Toyota competitors. A strong start could help him establish control early, but surviving the closing laps will be the bigger challenge.
Majeski Looks to Turn Pole Into a Victory
The Love’s RV Stop 225 is scheduled for Friday, October 23, at Talladega Superspeedway, with coverage on FS1 beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern.
Majeski has completed the first major objective by putting his truck at the front of the field. Now, he will look to turn that qualifying performance into a victory as the Truck Series championship battle continues.
Starting first gives Majeski an opportunity, but at Talladega, nothing is guaranteed once the green flag waves.
