Badlands Security Company has acquired New York-based security integrator Cosmic Fischer, backed by Tucker’s Farm Corporation.
A spokesperson said, “The Badlands Security Company [Badlands], backed by Tucker’s Farm Corporation [Tucker’s Farm], today announced the acquisition of Cosmic Fischer [Cosmic], a commercial security integrator that has served New York City since 1968. Terms were not disclosed.
“Aaron Vaknin led the business for more than three decades, combining Fischer Locksmiths and Cosmic Doors to form Cosmic Fischer. The company traces its roots to 1968, when Fischer Locksmiths was founded. Cosmic designs, installs, and services doors and storefronts, locks and hardware, electronic access control, video surveillance, intercom systems, and gates for commercial property owners, managing agents, and institutional clients. Its work is concentrated in the five boroughs, with select projects nationwide.
“Tucker’s Farm capitalized Badlands in February 2025, concurrently acquiring Webster Lock and Hardware Company, one of the largest family-owned locksmiths in the U.S., covering roughly 10,000 doors with approximately 40 trucks. Webster was the first company to join the platform and brought scale, density, and buying power in mechanical security. Cosmic is the second, and adds the electronic side of the same door.
“Cosmic will continue to operate under the Cosmic Fischer name from its Manhattan headquarters. Stephen Vaknin, who has spent more than 11 years with the company and the last six leading its operations, will continue to lead the business.”
Stephen Vaknin, Chief Executive Officer of Cosmic Fischer, remarked, “Cosmic Fischer has been a family business since 1968. We were selective about who we would trust to move the business into the future. Badlands understands our industry and our business approach that has inspired customer loyalty. Joining the platform gives our technicians better tools, our customers a deeper bench, and our team the capacity to take on larger projects than we could pursue on our own. I’m excited to be staying on as CEO to lead the growth.”
Daniel Balzora, Chief Executive Officer of The Badlands Security Company, added, “Customers want one partner for both the hardware in the door and the system that controls it. With Webster and Cosmic, Badlands now delivers both, and Cosmic brings a team that has been doing this work in New York for decades. That combination is hard to assemble and harder to replicate. Our job is to give Stephen and his technicians more resources, not more supervision. We are a stronger platform today, and we are actively looking for the next partner to join us.”
The spokesperson said, “Vaupen Financial Advisors served as financial advisor to Cosmic Fischer, and Strauss Troy Co., LPA acted as legal counsel to Cosmic Fischer. Quilvest Capital Partners served as debt financing partner to Badlands. Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP acted as legal counsel to Badlands.”
