The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will honour 12 initiatives for sustainability, technological innovation and other contributions to the garment industry at Batexpo 2026, scheduled for 18-19 November at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre
The Sustainability Leadership (TSL) Awards will feature four categories, with winners receiving platinum, gold and silver recognition. PDS Ltd is the title sponsor of the 25th-anniversary edition of Batexpo, the country's largest international garment industry exhibition, according to the organisers.
BGMEA is organising the awards in collaboration with the German development agency GIZ's STILE II project, with support from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Ministry of Commerce.
The four categories are People First, covering worker welfare, model factories, women in leadership and community initiatives; Planet Positive, focusing on environmental sustainability, water conservation and circular textiles; Next Frontier, recognising business and worker-centred innovation; and Rising Strength, highlighting resource-efficient initiatives by small and medium-sized enterprises.
The awards seek to recognise factories advancing worker welfare, environmental responsibility, innovation and resilience as the industry faces growing global demands for lower carbon emissions, recycling, circular production and energy-efficient manufacturing.
BGMEA has invited factories to submit applications or nominations through www.batexpo.com.bd/tsl-awards, according to the announcement.
