The Brooklyn Nets are just one day away from beginning their 2026-27 NBA season with a home matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday that will hopefully start on a winning note. Brooklyn used their four preseason games to see which players mesh well with others and while the Nets had a relatively-healthy training camp, they will have one player that won't be available.
In the Nets' injury report that they released on Tuesday, second-round rookie Tyler Bilodeau will not be playing against the Hornets as he's dealing with a right shoulder sprain. Thankfully for the Nets, Bilodeau is the only player on the injury report to begin the season and head coach Jordi Fernandez said earlier in the week that the team isn't concerned about his shoulder issue.
For Charlotte, they will be without guard Coby White along with forwards Kon Knueppel, Grant Williams, and Kylan Boswell for their season-opener at the Nets. Knueppel is dealing with a hamstring injury as is Williams while White has a calf issue and Boswell had surgery on his right knee earlier in the preseason with the team hoping that he can ready to play when the G League season begins.
While Brooklyn's main addition to the roster over the offseason was former Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle via trade, the Hornets will look significantly different when both teams face off tomorrow. For starters, Charlotte traded away franchise cornerstones in LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges with Ball going to Minnesota in the Randle deal and Bridges going to the Phoenix Suns.
Wednesday will be Brooklyn's first glimpse at a Nets team led by Randle and sharpshooting forward Michael Porter Jr., likely with guards Egor Demin and Keon Ellis in the backcourt and Day'Ron Sharpe at the center spot. Brooklyn will begin the season healthy while Charlotte will be at a health disadvantage so the hope is that the Nets can take advantage by winning their first game of the season.
For tomorrow's season opener against the Hornets, the Nets say that rookie Tyler Bilodeau (right shoulder sprain) is OUT.
