Kathmandu, October 13
Floods and landslides have disrupted major highways and road sections in several districts across Nepal, affecting traffic in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
According to a notice issued by Nepal Police on Tuesday morning, road travel has been affected at various locations in Dhading, Myagdi, Nawalpur, Manang and Gorkha.
A landslide at Khatri Pauwa in Dhunibesi Municipality-9, Dhading, has restricted traffic on the Tribhuvan Highway to one-way operation.
Similarly, a landslide at Baisari in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2, Myagdi, has left the Beni-Jomsom road operating in one direction.
In Nawalpur, the Kaligandaki Corridor has been affected by a landslide at Janti in Baudikali Rural Municipality-3. Nepal Police said large vehicles cannot operate along the affected section.
Flooding has also disrupted the road connecting Besisahar to Khangsar in Manang, where traffic is moving in one direction.
In Gorkha, flooding in the Budhigandaki River has completely damaged the iron bridge at Soti, which connects wards 2 and 3 of Aarughat Rural Municipality, as well as the Nayapul bridge connecting Aarughat in Gorkha with Dhading. Road traffic along the affected routes remains obstructed.
Nepal Police has urged travellers to exercise caution and check with the relevant authorities for updates on road conditions before setting out.
