SHARJAH, Oct 22: Bangladesh mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam has been reported for a suspected illegal bowling action following his appearance against Afghanistan in a tri-series match in Sharjah on Wednesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed.
The 29-year-old, who recently made his ODI debut, will have to undergo an independent assessment at an ICC-accredited testing centre to determine whether his bowling action complies with international regulations.
Under ICC regulations, a bowler’s elbow must not extend beyond 15 degrees during the delivery action, measured from the point at which the bowling arm reaches shoulder level until the ball is released.
Match officials can report a player if they suspect the action exceeds the permitted limit.
The report does not automatically mean Al Islam has been found guilty of an illegal action.
His bowling will be assessed using technology and specialist analysis of human movement to establish whether it complies with the rules. (Agencies)
