Nate Sheppard is a game-time decision ahead of Duke’s battle against archrival North Carolina in Durham on Saturday afternoon, per the ACC’s official injury report.
The nation’s leader in rushing and all-purpose yards, Sheppard appeared to sustain an ankle injury in last Saturday’s upset loss to Georgia Tech. He was taken into the injury tent to be evaluated, but returned later and played a critical role in the Blue Devils’ getting a chance to tie the game at the buzzer with a field goal, which Gavin Strange missed wide left.
Through five games, the Louisiana native is averaging 148.60 yards rushing per game, while also putting up 180.8 all-purpose yards per game.
Sheppard was recently named to the Sports Illustrated and Associated Press midseason All-American teams.
Duke and North Carolina kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET at Wallace Wade Stadium. The game airs on ESPN2.
