At the meeting, participants discussed the work plan to be implemented during Peru's Pro-Tempore Presidency, which aims to deepen Andean integration and bring its benefits closer to the citizenry.
Both officials also highlighted the importance of promoting renewed leadership within the Andean Community, an organization comprising Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
It is worth noting that Peru assumed the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Andean Community for the 2026–2027 period in Quito, Ecuador, on September 30, 2026.
Upon assuming the Andean Community's Pro-Tempore Presidency, Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Espa said the country will work to deepen integration.
The cabinet member outlined three key priorities in its work plan: regional security and the fight against transnational threats; disaster risk management and environmental sustainability; and Andean citizenship and border integration.
These priorities aim to bring the integration process closer to citizens.
This event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
