Slavija Info editor Ljubomir Stefanovic wrote in an X post that United Serbia lead candidate and former president Aleksandar Vucic would “shoot at citizens on election day”. The Belgrade Higher Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the police to bring him in and an arrest warrant was issued after he was not found at his home. His apartment was searched and his equipment seized.
Stefanovic said in a video statement on Monday that he has faced pressure from police and prosecutors for seven years, including more than 90 searches at border crossings and what he described as unlawful detentions. He alleged that the regime was trying to prevent his broadcasts by seizing his equipment and cutting off his access to the Internet. He also accused the authorities of failing to act on his complaints about alleged surveillance and his claim that members of the Security Information Agency (BIA) abducted him in 2024.
Tanjug reported on Sunday that police had launched a search for Stefanovic on the order of the Belgrade Higher Public Prosecutor's Department for High-Tech Crime, after he could not be found at his registered address. Stefanovic said he would not surrender voluntarily before October 26, but would do so if the government changed.
