Barcelona star Rodri secured for himself ownership of no fewer than five La Liga season benchmarks during the club’s most recent outing.
Barca were of course back in action on Saturday evening, making the trip to Seville for a La Liga meeting with high-flying Real Betis.
The aforementioned Rodri featured from the off at La Cartuja, from his customary berth at the base of the visitors’ midfield. And en route to an eventual 5-2 triumph for Hansi Flick’s men, the Spanish international controlled proceedings with trademark poise and leadership.
Whilst it was Lamine Yamal who took the majority of the plaudits post-match, it was Rodri who kept things ticking over for Barcelona, the perfect base upon which the Catalans’ attackers could build.
And as alluded to above, the 30-year-old’s excellence over the course of the 90 minutes on Saturday has since been aptly summed up by a round of statistics…
As revealed by WhoScored, Rodri set new La Liga season records for all of the following against Real Betis:
- Touches – 138
- Total passes – 129
- Open play passes – 127
- Accurate passes – 126
- Successful open play passes – 124
