Olympiacos defeated Barcelona 105-100 after overtime in Barcelona on Friday, completing a perfect two-win run on Spanish soil during the second EuroLeague double-week of the season. The reigning 2026 European champions survived a late Barcelona comeback from 13 points down to secure victory in Round 6 at the Palau Blaugrana.
The Greek side improved to 5-1, an impressive record considering that only one of its first six games had taken place at home, at SUNEL Arena. Barcelona dropped to 3-3.
Mbaye Ndiaye (17 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one assist) proved decisive for Olympiacos in overtime, while Jean Montero also played a crucial role during the extra period. Sasha Vezenkov led the visitors throughout regulation with 25 points, six rebounds and one assist, earning the game’s MVP honours with a performance index rating of 28.
Cody Miller-McIntyre added 17 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Montero finished with 16 points and three three-pointers, according to the official scoring breakdown.
Evan Fournier endured a difficult spell after coach Georgios Bartzokas introduced him with 4:57 remaining in regulation. The French guard committed several turnovers and missed his shots before fouling out with 25 seconds left following an unsportsmanlike foul.
Olympiacos also battled through several injury concerns. Montero and Donta Hall played despite ankle injuries, Ndiaye suffered an injury to his left eye after a finger struck it during the game, and Nikola Milutinov did not play because of back discomfort before tip-off.
Barcelona Force Overtime After Late Rally
Barcelona relied heavily on outside shooting, making 16 of 41 three-point attempts, compared with Olympiacos’ 13 of 29.
Tyrese Martin and Justin Robinson each scored 17 points for the home side, with Robinson converting four three-pointers. His most important shot came at the end of regulation, when he hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 92-92 with 1.8 seconds remaining.
Olympiacos had failed to foul Barcelona during the final eight seconds, despite holding the lead after Vezenkov converted two free throws. Robinson had already reduced the deficit to 90-88 with 58 seconds remaining, while Josh Nebo missed an opportunity to extend Barcelona’s advantage by converting only one of two free throws with 25 seconds left.
Martin then opened overtime with a three-pointer to put Barcelona ahead 95-92. However, Olympiacos responded through Ndiaye, who hit a corner three-pointer, converted a free throw, blocked a shot and threw down a dunk to swing momentum back towards the visitors.
Montero subsequently hit a crucial three-pointer to help Olympiacos seal another dramatic victory early in the season.
Quarter-by-quarter scores: Barcelona 30-26, Olympiacos 47-57 at half-time, Barcelona 66-77, 92-92 after regulation, Olympiacos 105-100 after overtime.

Olympiacos changed its line-up at the start of the second quarter, introducing Montero, Keenan Joseph, Kostas Papanikolaou, Ndiaye and Hall.
Ndiaye, Hall and Joseph, who hit a three-pointer, combined to produce a 7-0 run that restored Olympiacos’ lead at 33-30.
Barcelona’s Dario Brizuela continued to threaten from long range, making three of his first-half three-point attempts. Olympiacos answered through Papanikolaou and Ndiaye, while Miller-McIntyre extended the visitors’ advantage to seven points at 43-36.
Barcelona responded with consecutive three-pointers from Clyburn Gibson and Brizuela to close the gap to 43-42. However, Olympiacos’ defence, led by Ndiaye, prevented the hosts from regaining the lead.
Ndiaye had nine points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks during the first half. Late three-pointers from Ward and Vezenkov extended Olympiacos’ lead to 57-47 at half-time.
The visitors also enjoyed a significant advantage in two-point shooting accuracy, converting 88.2% of their attempts. Vezenkov had quietly accumulated 16 points in just 10 minutes and 50 seconds on court, while Miller-McIntyre had 12 points and two three-pointers.
Barcelona Fight Back in the Second Half
Olympiacos went nearly four minutes without scoring at the start of the third quarter but maintained a 62-50 lead as Barcelona failed to capitalise fully on the drought.
Vezenkov grabbed two offensive rebounds and scored twice to help preserve the advantage, with Olympiacos leading 77-66 at the end of the third quarter.
Montero found space to score in the fourth, helping Olympiacos maintain an 84-72 advantage. However, the visitors then endured another scoring drought as Barcelona mounted its comeback.
Vezenkov converted a technical free throw to make it 85-81, before Ndiaye added two free throws for an 87-81 lead with 2:21 remaining.
Miller-McIntyre then buried a crucial three-pointer to extend Olympiacos’ advantage to 90-83. Barcelona responded with a 6-0 run to close within one point.
Barcelona’s Kevin Punter missed a shot, allowing Vezenkov to add free throws. Robinson then struck from beyond the arc to level the score at 92-92 with 1.8 seconds remaining.
Olympiacos failed to create a good scoring opportunity after a timeout, sending the game into overtime.
Ndiaye and Montero Deliver in Overtime
Martin’s three-pointer gave Barcelona an early 95-92 lead in overtime, but Ndiaye quickly turned the game around.
The Olympiacos forward hit a corner three-pointer to tie the score at 95-95, converted a free throw to put his team ahead, blocked a shot and finished with a dunk to extend the advantage to three points.
Montero then delivered another important three-pointer, helping Olympiacos close out the game and complete its second victory in Spain during the EuroLeague double-week.
The result strengthened Olympiacos’ position at 5-1 and underlined the team’s ability to prevail in a high-scoring contest despite injuries, turnovers and a late collapse in regulation.
