Morocco’s new government plans to ban children under 15 from accessing social media platforms and potentially harmful online games under legislation outlined in its 2026–2031 government program.
The government of Prime Minister Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri also pledged to introduce a national digital childhood initiative, regulating access to online services according to age and prohibiting smartphones in primary schools.
The initiative would introduce digital literacy into school curricula, provide parents with monitoring tools and establish a certification label for child-friendly digital spaces.
Alongside the restrictions, the government committed to upgrading child protection centers and social welfare institutions, including improvements to infrastructure, equipment and staffing.
The program also calls for separating children according to age and circumstances within care facilities, while strengthening educational, medical and psychological support.
