The New York Yankees are bringing Aaron Boone back next season, according to NorthJersey.com's Pete Caldera.
Boone is going into the final year of his deal and his 10th season as the Yankees manager. He will become the seventh manager in franchise history to manage the team for 10 seasons, but is the only one who did not win a championship in his first nine seasons.
Boone is objectively a good manager, posting a 790-565 regular season record. However, the Yankees have continuously come up short in October. The expectations in New York are high, and fans often forget how hard it is to actually win it all. However, former Yankees outfielder Cameron Maybin thinks Boone is a fine manager and wants him to manage the San Diego Padres.
"Unpopular opinion, but I’d LOVE to see Aaron Boone manage the San Diego Padres when his time in New York is done!" Maybin wrote on X. "Having played for Boone, I can tell you what fans don’t always see. He’s an ELITE communicator, holds guys accountable behind closed doors without embarrassing them publicly, and makes players believe in themselves even when nobody else does. Managing the Yankees comes with pressure most people will NEVER understand. He’s handled those pinstripes to the best of his ability. Boone is a tremendous leader of MEN, and I truly believe Padres players and fans would LOVE and APPRECIATE what he brings to that clubhouse. Say what you want about Boone. I know the man behind the manager. That’s my opinion, and I’m STANDING ON IT!"

Maybin's lengthy endorsement of Boone addressed many of the things others point to as flaws in his managing style. Maybin played for Boone in 2019 and played a total of 15 seasons in the big leagues.
He played for 10 teams, but played the most games with the Padres. The Padres may not be looking for a new manager anytime soon, however.
Craig Stammen went 91-71 in his first season and looks like he can be a successful manager for years to come. His team lost to the eventual National League champions in the National League Division Series, but were a couple of plays away from winning the series. Who knows what happens if Ty France's fly ball does not hit the roof or Garrett Mitchell does not make a spectacular catch at the wall in Game 4.
