The Commandant-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has said he will not campaign for any politician in the 2027 general elections.
He said he wants leaders who will promote justice and improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Daurawa made this known in a Hausa-language Facebook post on Saturday, following criticism over the inclusion of Islamic scholars in the Kano State All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Advisory Committee.
The committee’s list, announced by Kano APC chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa, reportedly included Daurawa and the immediate past chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan.
Reacting to the development, Daurawa said he had no intention of campaigning for any candidate.
“I am not a politician and I will not campaign for anyone. However, I hope that whoever will uphold justice, show compassion for the poor, defend their rights and work to improve their lives will be granted victory by Allah,” he said.
He also prayed for leaders who would be honest, trustworthy and guided by the fear of God, rather than personal interests.
“May Allah grant us leaders who are truthful, trustworthy and God-fearing, who will put the interest of the people above their personal interests. Amin, Ya Rabbal Alamin,” he added.
However, Daurawa did not directly comment on his reported appointment to the APC committee.
