Guglielmo Vicario was in goal for Juventus during their Europa League match against Rennes, and despite conceding twice, he believes the Bianconeri deserved to win the fixture.
It was a challenging evening for the black and white side, who needed a strong performance to secure a positive result. Juventus were determined to respond after their disappointing recent form, but Rennes proved to be a difficult opponent despite their inconsistent performances overall.
The Ligue 1 side had remained unbeaten in Europe, making the contest a demanding test for Juventus. The Bianconeri understood the importance of winning, particularly after suffering a humiliating home defeat just days earlier. A victory would have offered a welcome response and given their supporters something to celebrate.
However, Juventus were unable to secure all three points, despite improving considerably after the interval. They thought they had scored a late winner through Jhon Lucumi, but the goal was disallowed following a VAR review. The decision denied the Bianconeri a dramatic victory, although Rennes could also argue that they had done enough to earn a share of the points.
Vicario believes Juventus deserved victory
Vicario was disappointed with the final result, especially considering the team’s improved performance in the second half. The goalkeeper felt Juventus had created enough opportunities to win the match and was frustrated that their efforts had not produced the desired outcome.
Speaking after the game, Vicario expressed his disappointment with the result and emphasised the need for the team to move forward. According to Football Italia, he said:
“It’s definitely very bitter, given how much we produced in the second half.
“We deserved to win. It didn’t happen, and now we have to recover and think about Lecce.”

Juventus turn their attention to Lecce
The result means Juventus must quickly shift their focus to their upcoming fixture against Lecce. Recovering from the disappointment will be important as they look to regain momentum and deliver a stronger performance in their next match.
Although Vicario believes his team deserved more against Rennes, Juventus must now concentrate on converting their opportunities and maintaining their intensity throughout the game. Their response against Lecce will provide another opportunity to put this frustrating result behind them and return to winning ways.
