The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, on Wednesday stated that education is one of her administration's fundamental pillars.
During the presentation of the 2027 educational materials distribution plan, the Head of State said education will be a transformative tool for society.
"One of the fundamental pillars of my five-year administration is undoubtedly education. Education will be the transformative tool for our society, enabling our children to have better opportunities in life and at work, and thus build a better society and a better country," Fujimori stated.
The top official made the remarks while presenting the "Educational Materials Distribution Plan for the 2027 School Year."
The President underscored the key steps in efficient, results-oriented public management: planning, organizing, directing, and executing.
"Four pillars reflected today in concrete action: anticipating needs and ensuring that children and adolescents nationwide receive all their educational materials on time," Fujimori said.
"Efficient management is not just about reacting to problems, but also about anticipating potential scenarios," she added.
In this regard, the Head of State announced that further preventive measures related to El Niño phenomenon will be presented in the coming days.
Likewise, the top official welcomed the Education Ministry's directive establishing a schedule to ensure that children and adolescents do not lose a school year due to risks associated with the climate event.
During her speech, the President also highlighted the school rules of conduct and the debate they have sparked.
"The presentation of the school rules of conduct will allow the best feedback to be gathered during the 30-day prepublication period," Fujimori indicated.
The Head of State stressed that the new guidelines reflect a new vision for education in the country that goes beyond students' personal presentation.
"There is a much broader vision here. But I also want to tell you that this decision is irreversible. And just as we have announced that students must come to school, there will not only be haircuts, but also the removal of the ideology that was contained in these school textbooks," Fujimori indicated.
"This review is already underway as well. As the Education Minister announced, the next school textbooks will be published without any kind of ideology," she added.
