COSTCO fans in Malaga can get a head start on the US bulk-buying giant, which opens a temporary membership office in the city on Monday, October 19.
The store isn’t due to open at the Malaga Nostrum retail park until spring 2027, but only members can shop there. Membership costs around €36 a year for individuals and €30 for businesses and the self-employed.
The temporary office at Malaga Nostrum will open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 10pm.

Early sign-ups get a €10 voucher to spend at any Costco in Spain, valid until 30 days after the Malaga store opens. They can also use their card straight away at the chain’s other Spanish stores and petrol stations. Their membership will run until spring 2028 instead of the usual 12 months.
Malaga will be Costco’s sixth Spanish store, after Sestao near Bilbao, Las Rozas and Getafe in Madrid, Seville and Zaragoza. Until now, the closest store for Costa del Sol shoppers has been in Seville, the chain’s first in Spain, which opened in May 2014.
The new store will replace the retail park’s leisure area and cinemas as part of an expansion worth more than €60 million, which will also add 18 new state-of-the-art cinema screens. Costco is expected to employ 200 people.

The store will cover more than 12,000 square metres, with a butcher’s, fishmonger’s, bakery, fruit and veg, dairy and frozen sections, plus ready meals and a rotisserie.
Its petrol station will start with nine pumps, which can be expanded to 12. It will be self-service, open 16 hours a day and closed on Sundays.
Costco operates in 14 countries and sells everything from groceries and electronics to tyres and office furniture, including its own Kirkland brand, which is hugely popular in the US.
