The newly appointed Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Government, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, has assumed office.
Akinwole took over from Segun Ogunwuyi, who recently resigned his appointment.
The new chief of staff reported for duty on Wednesday, accompanied by members of his new office.
Meanwhile, stakeholders have described his appointment as well deserved.
The former Special Assistant on Media to former President Muhammadu Buhari, Williams Adeleye, noted that the former chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission had paid his dues through years of service.
He expressed confidence in Akinwole’s ability to justify the confidence reposed in him by the governor and contribute meaningfully to the administration’s development agenda.
Governor Seyi Makinde announced Akinwole’s appointment in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
Akinwole, a grassroots politician, previously served as chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission before his appointment as chief of staff.
In announcing the appointment, Makinde congratulated Akinwole and urged him to discharge his responsibilities with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the service of Oyo State.
The announcement was contained in a statement dated 12 October 2026 and signed by Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor.
