Speaking during a studio podcast interview, Aisha sat across from a host, both mic'd up and in headphones, for what turned into one of the more entertaining conversations doing the rounds online this week.
"There are big, big, big people who are jokers too. I didn't know some of the politicians are jokers like that," she said, visibly amused.
Governors, MPs and empty promises
Aisha didn't hold back on the specifics, revealing that the men in question are not backbenchers but seriously high-ranking officials, among them governors and members of parliament. Their approach, however, leaves a lot to be desired.
According to her, the promises fly in thick and fast. From offering to appoint her as a CDF manager to dangling parliamentary nomination as bait, the lines these politicians use belong in a comedy sketch.
"Ati I'll make you the CDF manager. Oh I want to nominate you. I want to nominate you kwa party yangu juu wewe uko ground one time," she recalled, barely containing her laughter.
What struck her most was the realisation that the dishonesty voters often complain about on the campaign trail follows these leaders right into their private conversations.
"Nilikuwa nadhani wabunge ni waongo tu kwa mambo ya kura, hadi huku jamani anakuambia... eh send me...," she added.
The Maldives incident
One particular exchange had her, the host and viewers cracking up. A politician reportedly asked her where she would like to go for a holiday, to which she replied Maldives. His response was not a booking confirmation.
"'Hey, where do you want to go for vacation?' I'm like Maldives. 'Eh, send me...' eh bro, ata hakunipatia ticket kwanza jamani," she said, laughing through the retelling.
Despite being pushed repeatedly by the host to name the individuals involved, Aisha refused to go that far, keeping the identities of her admirers firmly under wraps.
Her candid revelations have gone viral, with many Kenyans online finding the whole thing painfully relatable, agreeing that the culture of big promises and zero delivery is not confined to the ballot box.
