Hanwha Solutions Verifies 500kV Cable Materials

(Provided by Hanwha Solutions) The Hanwha Solutions Wire and Cable (W&C) division has completed the technology verification for 500kV-class high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) cable materials and is accelerating the expansion of its product lineup. Hanwha Solutions announced on Oct. 16 that it has successfully completed the technology verification for the XLPE insulation and semiconducting material package for 500kV-class HVAC cables in collaboration with Chinese extra-high voltage cable manufacturers Qingdao Hanhe and TBEA. This test was supervised by TICW, a certification institution affiliated with China's SECRI, and intensively evaluated the insulation performance and long-term reliability essential for extra-high voltage power transmission environments. With the success of this verification, Hanwha Solutions has proven its global-level technological capabilities in the field of extra-high voltage cable materials. The company is currently simultaneously pursuing certification from KEMA, an internationally recognized certification institution. Hanwha Solutions anticipates that its global super extra-high voltage (SEHV) XLPE sales volume in 2026 will grow to nearly double the level of the previous year. Particularly in the Chinese market, sales of extra-high voltage products, including 325kV-class materials, are expected to expand by approximately three times compared to 2025. Based on its strengthened product portfolio, Hanwha Solutions plans to increase material supply for various application fields, including power plants, power transmission networks, and large-scale renewable energy projects. The company has established a strategy to continuously expand its business territory within the extra-high voltage cable market through the diversification of global clients.
