Many NFL fans and analysts had high hopes for the Los Angeles Chargers when they hired Mike McDaniel as their new offensive coordinator this past offseason.
But now five weeks in the the 2026 season, the Chargers are 0-5 and have one of the worst offensive units in the league.
When speaking with reporters on Thursday, McDaniels was asked if he feels as though he's "coaching for his job."
"I feel like it's core to my job to always feel that way," McDaniel replied, via team reporter Anthony Gharib of ESPN.
"I will be doing my very best because from an integrity standpoint I think it’s really insulting to do anything else. That won’t change," he continued. "I would be so embarrassed if I told you, ‘well now I’m going to try harder.’ Like what? What have you been doing? I’m confident in the players that we have. I think that the improvement that I see before the results generally lead to good things. But talk is cheap. We got to do."
