KOTA BARU: Pas members will not be allowed to support Bersatu candidates in the upcoming Melaka state election if the party contests under its own logo.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the party had confirmed it would contest at least one state seat in Melaka, where Bersatu was also fielding a candidate.
"If they use the Bersatu logo, our members will not be allowed to support them," he said.
Takiyuddin, who is also Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general, said yesterday that PN candidates would not clash with Umno or Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in the Nov 14 election.
He said PN members had been instructed to support BN candidates, while BN members could also choose to support PN candidates.
On Oct 21, BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition would contest 21 seats, while Pas and its allies would field candidates in the remaining seven, following the conclusion of seat negotiations.
He said BN would use its own logo, leaving it to Pas and its allies to decide which logo to use.
