Mozambique’s Ports and Railways Company (CFM) is taking part in the 15th Southern African Railways Association (SARA) Conference and Exhibition, taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 20 to 23 October 2026.
The event brings together policymakers, investors and international suppliers to discuss rail and multimodal transport, including transport infrastructure modernisation, cross-border cooperation and the railway sector’s contribution to economic growth in Southern Africa.
CFM is participating in discussions on investment in railway infrastructure and the harmonisation of regional sector policies, including opportunities for cooperation and logistics integration between countries in the region.
CFM is a member of SARA and is involved in the development and integration of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) railway network, which supports the movement of people and goods and regional trade.
That’s a wrap on Day 3 of the 15th SARA Rail Conference & Exhibition 2026!
Today’s sessions brought together rail leaders, regulators and industry experts to discuss practical ways to strengthen rail across the region.
From safer, more reliable passenger rail and aligned cross-border safety standards to unlocking trade through the Lobito and Nacala corridors, the conversations focused on improving connectivity, attracting investment and supporting regional industrial growth.
Discussions also explored innovative rail financing, efficient pit-to-port supply chains and developing the skills needed to prepare the railway workforce for the future.
As SARA celebrates 30 years, collaboration and regional cooperation remain key to unlocking rail’s full potential.
Thank you to our speakers, delegates, partners and exhibitors for making Day 3 a success!
Today marks the final day of the conference! The conversations continue as the industry comes together to shape the future of rail connectivity, investment and growth across the region.

At CFM, the campaign was carried out in the South and Centre Executive Directorates, involving workers, passengers, local communities, motorists, partners and other railway users. It aimed to promote safe and responsible interaction with railway infrastructure.
The initiative reinforced messages on accident prevention, the protection of human life and railway safety, with particular emphasis on safe behaviour, compliance with signage and the correct way to cross railway lines.
The campaign included awareness-raising activities and community engagement through cultural performances, music, poetry, theatre, dance and door-to-door outreach, with the aim of extending the reach of safety messages and encouraging public involvement in preventing railway accidents.
