The Greens have called on the federal government to move urgently to tighten the regulation of the Big Four accounting firms following the public release of the latest report into KPMG.
Senator Barbara Pocock said the report prepared for the firm by governance consultancy Principia provided further evidence that the firm has a culture of turning on whistleblowers who raise genuine concerns about behaviour within the firm.
The Principia report also noted that senior partners and leaders within the firm decided to ignore ethical and professional standards when it came to handling confidential audit client information and pursuing audits.
