The Section 9 girls soccer tournament has 23 schools entered so far, and play gets underway on October 26, culminating on Oct. 28 and Oct. 31.
The top seeds will be Monroe-Woodbury in Class AAA; Warwick in AA; Our Lady of Lourdes in A; Highland in B; and,to be determined in C (after Thursday night's MHAL finals). Rockland is the lone entry in Class D and has been declared champion.
As per the Oct. 17 state sportswriter rankings, here are the latest ranks for Section 9 teams: Class AAA - No. 8 Monroe-Woodbury; Class AA - No. 13 Warwick; No. 22 Washingtonville; Class A - No. 6 Mount Academy; No. 12 Beacon; No. 16 Our Lady of Lourdes; Class B - No. 3 Mount Academy; No. 16 Highland; No. 22 Rhinebeck; No. 24 Burke Catholic; Class C - none; Class D - No. 10 Rockland.
