By Zoila Palma: The Belize Forest Department has announced the opening of Belize’s 2026–2027 logging season, which runs from October 15, 2026, to June 15, 2027.
The department is reminding prospective loggers to comply with licensing requirements and submit their applications before the established deadline.
Applications for logging licences on private and lease land must be submitted to the respective Forest Department District Offices no later than January 31, 2027.
Applicants are encouraged to use the department’s checklist to ensure that all required information and supporting documents are included.
The department cautions that applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted or processed. It also reminds loggers that the harvesting and transportation of forest produce must comply with applicable laws, regulations and permit conditions throughout the season.
To ensure compliance, the Forest Department will conduct monitoring and inspections during the logging season.
