Nairobi - Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has openly questioned the political wisdom of a potential alliance between Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, following reports of the two meeting at Gachagua's Wamunyoro residence.

Amisi, who leads the People's Renaissance Movement (PRM) and was previously affiliated with Sifuna's Linda Mwananchi team, said the direction of any political support between the two figures would determine whether such an arrangement gains traction with ordinary Kenyans ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Amisi's take on 2 possible arrangements
The Saboti lawmaker drew a clear distinction between two scenarios. He argued that if Gachagua were to back Sifuna's presidential bid, the move would attract strong popular support.

However, if the arrangement were reversed, with Sifuna throwing his weight behind Gachagua's presidential ambitions, Amisi said the political narrative would be extremely difficult to sustain.
"If he is supporting you, we shall be there no matter what. If you are supporting him then kuna shida. Kubwa sana! The narrative will be hard to sell! PM Party – Mabadiliko ni sasa," Amisi said.
Sifuna and Gachagua's meeting
The remarks follow the widely discussed visit between Sifuna and Gachagua, which drew attention across the political landscape given the Linda Mwananchi team's positioning as an opposition force ahead of 2027.
Gachagua, who was impeached as deputy president in October 2024, has since been building his own political base and is widely expected to mount a presidential challenge.
Amisi's comments signal possible tension within circles that had previously aligned with the Linda Mwananchi movement, with the MP making clear that his own political vehicle, PRM, would evaluate any broader coalition based on which figure leads it.
