LSU football beat Auburn on Saturday, going on the road to pick up a must-win SEC game. LSU has now won back-to-back conference games by blowout margins. The Tigers are 6-2 with a bye next week.
LSU is once again a College Football Playoff contender. Things looked bleak for LSU after the Tigers fell to Kentucky in early October, but LSU rallied with two complete performances. LSU is getting healthy, the offense is turning a corner, and the defense continues to dominate.
The margin for error is slim. With two losses, LSU probably needs to win out. But if the Tigers do run the table and finish 10-2, LSU is in the field.
The schedule isn't easy. After the bye, LSU will host Alabama and Texas before hitting the road to face Tennessee. However, LSU can be favored in every remaining game. That doesn't guarantee much, though, especially with how upset-heavy the SEC has been this year.
But LSU is trending in the right direction. LSU has a chance to get better again over the bye week, with Whit Weeks hoping to return in November.
