Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have requested security allowances of up to 120% of basic pay and additional funding for equipment. The department has submitted a summary to the provincial governor seeking better compensation for personnel facing security threats. The proposal covers different allowance rates based on the districts where officers serve. Police officials also want funds to strengthen operational readiness and address shortages of weapons, protective gear and vehicles.
Under the proposal, personnel serving in southern districts, including Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Kohat, would receive 120% of basic pay. The same rate would apply across all merged districts. Officers in other settled districts would receive 100%, while personnel in the Hazara region would qualify for 75%. According to the summary, these allowances would increase monthly expenditure by more than Rs5.159 billion.

The summary states that KP police have fought terrorism for three decades. It argues that their salaries remain lower than those of police personnel in other provinces despite their sacrifices. Meanwhile, the department has requested the release of procurement funds allocated for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The requested amounts exceed Rs11.16 billion for settled districts and Rs3.35 billion for merged districts.
The police have also sought an additional Rs13.871 billion to purchase weapons, modern equipment and vehicles. The proposed spending aims to address shortages caused by budget constraints. Requested items include submachine guns, MG-1A3 rifles, 5.56mm weapons, bulletproof jackets and ballistic helmets. The department has also listed drones, thermal weapon sights and binoculars among its requirements.

The summary identifies weapons, ammunition, transport, machinery and ordnance supplies as essential operational requirements. The department says releasing the requested funds would help improve equipment availability and maintain readiness amid ongoing security challenges.
