BRAC Bank has organised stakeholder engagement programmes at its Baniachong branch in Habiganj and Chhagalnaiya branch in Feni to encourage young entrepreneurs to apply for financing under Bangladesh Bank's Udyog scheme.
More than 110 participants attended the two events on 7 October, 2026, including Bangladesh Bank representatives, local entrepreneurs, youth development organisations and officials from BRAC Bank and other scheduled banks, according to the press release.
BRAC Bank serves as the lead bank for the programme in both upazilas.
The sessions explained the scheme's objectives, eligibility criteria, application procedures and selection process.
Organisers distributed application forms and gave aspiring entrepreneurs opportunities to seek clarification from officials ahead of the 15 October application deadline.
Launched by Bangladesh Bank, Udyog aims to identify, select and finance promising young entrepreneurs at the upazila level.
Selected applicants can receive blended financing of up to Tk20 lakh, comprising a bank loan of up to Tk10 lakh and a grant of up to Tk10 lakh.
Baniachong and Chhagalnaiya are among the 64 upazilas across eight districts covered by the programme's first phase.
Applicants can download forms from the Bangladesh Bank and BRAC Bank websites and submit completed applications to any scheduled bank branch in their respective upazilas.
Beyond financing, the scheme includes support to help young entrepreneurs establish and develop sustainable businesses.
All applicants receive financial literacy training. Selected entrepreneurs also receive business development training, mentoring, assistance with business registration and business plan preparation, and access to market linkages.
Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, managing director and CEO of BRAC Bank, said, "Supporting entrepreneurs who have the potential to grow but lack access to formal finance has been central to BRAC Bank's purpose from its inception. Udyog extends that commitment to young people at the earliest stage of their entrepreneurial journey, combining financing with training and mentoring to help them turn promising ideas into viable businesses. We will continue to work with Bangladesh Bank to nurture young entrepreneurs, strengthen local economies and create productive employment opportunities across the country."
