President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition got a big boost on Wednesday with the promise by both Governors Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Charles Soludo of Anambra State to massively mobilise for his re-election in their States.
The promises were made by both governors while speaking at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Governor Adeleke, who recently got re-elected on the platform of the Accord Party, in his remarks, noted that four years were too small for the renewed hope policies being pursued by President Tinubu’s administration to yield enough results for the people
According to him, “Four years is too small a time for a serious government to achieve success. The President needs enough time to complete the good work he is doing.”
He therefore assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that his administration would work for his re-election in Osun State.
Governor Soludo, who is representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in his remarks, described President Tinubu as a symbol of “the unity of Nigeria, the security of Nigeria and the shared prosperity of Nigeria.”
He stated that these were the values that informed APGA’s decision to back Tinubu for the second term
Governor Soludo, an economist and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, defended the reforms of Tinubu’s administration.
He noted that they might be difficult but insisted that they were necessary.
“The path you have chosen, that you have had the courage to take, is the difficult but necessary path,” Governor Soludo said.
He argued that Tinubu’s second term would consolidate the gains of reform and move Nigeria towards what he called “pragmatic progressivism.”
“There is no way you change a winning team,” he added. “If it is not broken, why mend it?”
