The Kuwaiti government has stepped up its continuous push to defend workers’ rights and reform the national labor market.
The government and security authorities have announced strict new penalties for private companies that delay workers’ salaries, including the automatic closure of their official files.
Officials said the measure marks a major escalation in efforts to combat labor exploitation, wage fraud, and financial violations in the private sector.
In a key strategic forum on the state mechanism of the national wage collection system, the authorities have emphasized that there is no business owner above the law, no matter how powerful they may be.
According to official reports, thousands of companies’ files have been frozen after long investigations into unpaid wages.
The State has set firm deadlines for operating times, with all registered private entities required to settle employee wages before certain dates of each month, so that foreign workers are not subjected to financial hardship.
In addition to this, the government highlighted cases of abnormal working hours, unjustified pay cuts, abuse of certain categories of fragile labor workforce such as delivery personnel.
The authorities also said that deceptive business practices, such as fake paychecks that conceal the actual income of employees, will be prevented from the root by immediate structural blockades. The Public Authority for Manpower is working alongside banks by utilizing the latest tracking tools to eliminate loopholes, identify non-compliant companies and promote transparency throughout the kingdom’s employment landscape.
However, even amid the resistance, systemic data from the past few days shows significant gains in national projections for all wage distribution indicators.
Wage submission apps approved by authorities have skyrocketed as employees and agencies turn to digital avenues to address grievances and retrieve owed wages.
By introducing stricter legal consequences and more rigorous oversight, Kuwait is seeking to preserve the country’s image as a global power, while also ensuring the well-being of the country’s enormous labour force.
