Opening odds for Bills vs. Raiders in Week 6 may not age well

Fresh off a thrilling win in primetime, the 4-1 Buffalo Bills are staying put out west in hopes of better-leveraging a short week of prep ahead of their Week 6 road game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Hardly the pushovers that many predicted this past summer, the 3-2 Raiders are playing tough football under new head coach Klint Kubiak.

However, Las Vegas was blown out by the New England Patriots last weekend, and they face a major challenge in trying to hold back quarterback Josh Allen and company this coming Sunday.

Like the result of Week 5 outcomes, the Bills open as 5.5-point (-5.5 / -105) favorites over the Raiders (+5.5 / -115) at FanDuel Sportsbook, with a money line of -250 for Buffalo and +205 for Las Vegas. The opening over/under has been set at a surprising O/U 53.5 (-110). This is a matchup that could turn into a shootout, given both offenses’ potent attacks.

The Bills and Raiders have a connection that goes back to the roots of the AFL that includes a friendship borne out of unique circumstances between original owners Ralph C. Wilson Jr. (Buffalo) and Al Davis (Oakland/Los Angeles). The all-time series is a close one, with a 22-21 lead in favor of the Bills that includes a pair of playoff wins for Buffalo’s Super Bowl era teams.

The Bills and Raiders last faced off on September 17, 2023 in Orchard Park, NY. Buffalo won handily that day, 38-10, in a game that quarterback Josh Allen dominated from the start. In his career, Allen is 2-0 against Las Vegas, having completed 55-of-71 passes for 562 yards with five touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Interestingly, Allen hasn’t done much as a rusher against Las Vegas. In two games, he has just six yards on six carries and one rushing touchdown.
