From turkey to mince pies, there are plenty of non-negotiables when it comes to Christmas food.
One of the most divisive items is the chocolate tub, as everyone has their own preferences.
Some opt for Quality Street, while others now swear by the M&S Big Mix for its shiny, nostalgic wrappers.
But if you’re a Cadbury fan, then you’ll either be buying Roses or Heroes – and if it’s the latter, you’re in for a treat this year.
That’s because, for the very first time, the chocolate giant is allowing shoppers to customise their boxes, so they can enjoy their favourites from the mix.
There is a bit of a catch, though.
You won’t be able to do this in any supermarkets. The option to customise is only available if you’re ordering the chocolates online.
Cadbury has launched a brand new virtual shop, giving fans a new way to buy and send their all-time favourite treats.
On the new site, you’ll also be able to create your own Cadbury Pick & Mix boxes ahead of Christmas.
There are two options for this – a Cadbury Heroes Pick & Mix where you can customise a giant box of chocolates, or a Cadbury Postal Selection Box, which will feature bigger 180g bars such as Fruit & Nut, or classic Dairy Milk.
How does the Cadbury Heroes Pick & Mix work?
Customers can choose between two boxes, with a 1kg option for £35, or 1.25kg for £40.
Once you’ve selected the size, you can then get to picking your favourite sweets to go inside.
And you have the choice of all the Heroes classics, including mini Dairy Milk Chunks, Cadbury Caramel, Twirl, Crunchie Bits, Wispa, Dinky Deckers, Fudge, and the Creme Egg Twisted.
You can choose to have an entire box of your favourite one, go 50/50, or mix it up and pick the ratios you’d like, as you make the rules.
Speaking about the launch, Kirsty Hunter, the vice president of marketing for Mondelez International UK&I, told Metro: ‘Cadbury has always been about generosity and bringing people closer together.
‘The new Cadbury Shop gives us an exciting way to do exactly that ahead of Christmas, combining the chocolates the nation loves with wonderfully personal gifting experiences, and helping us serve our customers better than ever before.
‘This is a huge milestone for Cadbury, and just the beginning of what we want to build.’
The Cadbury shop is open now, and the Pick & Mix option is live at shop.cadbury.co.uk.

This comes after chocolate lovers were dealt a blow as Kellogg’s confirmed it had changed the iconic Coco Pops recipe.
The cereal giant has added several new ingredients into the mix, and fans say it now tastes ‘diabolical’.
M&S has also upset shoppers by revealing one of its popular festive cookies won’t be returning this year.
The Peppermint Bark Cookie isn’t coming back for 2026, as the retailer is introducing new flavours, including Chocolate & Cornflake.
It’s not all doom and gloom, though. Co-op is bringing the viral dot cake trend to UK supermarkets, so if you’ve been desperate to give it a try, now’s your chance.
And Greggs has unveiled a second round of items joining its festive line-up.
