Sacha Baron Cohen has a "masochistic nature".
The 55-year-old actor believes he could easily make good money by making risk-free movies - but Sacha insists that's not in his nature.
The comedy star - who has reprised the role of Ali G to star in Ali G: Who Iz I? - told The Hollywood Reporter: "I made a movie called Ladies First. I shot it in three months. It came out. A lot of people saw it [on Netflix]. And it’s as financially beneficial as making something that takes years, and there’s absolutely zero risk.
"There must be some masochistic nature to me, but I don’t think it’s just that.
"I want to give the fans who’ve been loyal for the last 28 years something that they’ve never seen before. I want to give them the most ambitious movie I’ve ever made, which is a three-character movie. [Sacha also plays a former Mossad agent.] It is my version of the Avengers."
Sacha recalled starring in Talladega Nights, the 2006 comedy film, and being surprised by how comfortable the movie's set felt.
The London-born star - who enjoyed success on TV, before switching his focus to films - shared: "The first [for-hire] movie I did, Talladega Nights, I walked into my trailer and there was a bed there.
"I realised I’d never been in a trailer before, and I go, 'Hold on, this is a paid job where I can go to sleep?!' I couldn’t comprehend how relatively easy it was, and it was great fun.
"But as you’ll probably deduce from this interview, I’m not very self-aware."
Meanwhile, Sacha recently claimed that bigoted attitudes have "gone mainstream" since he last appeared as Ali G.
The comedian - who has reprised the character after a 20-year break - wrote in Time magazine: "Back when I first created Borat, it took a few minutes—or a few drinks—to get people to reveal the racism that often simmered below the surface.
"Now, those views have gone mainstream—whether it’s fans hurling slurs and abuse at black players during the World Cup or hundreds of white nationalists marching through Washington, D.C., on July 4."
