DIMAPUR, OCT 24 (NPN): Ao Officers’ Telungjem (AOT) has called for an impartial and time-bound inquiry into allegations against Deputy Commissioner Kiphire Temsuwati Longkumer, while urging restraint against premature conclusions and trial by social media.
In a press release, AOT president Limasunep Jamir and general secretary Rongsenlemzung said the organisation had taken serious note of a representation submitted by Likumse Sangtam and Tsathrise Rudy to the Commissioner, Nagaland, which gained widespread circulation on social media on October 1, 2026.
AOT said while the right to raise grievances was recognised, allegations against a serving public official should be addressed through lawful procedures rather than public condemnation before an independent examination.
The organisation stressed that the allegations remained unverified and should not be treated as established facts without findings by the competent authority.
It said the reach of an allegation should never be mistaken for the strength of its evidence, adding that every grievance deserved fair examination and every individual a fair hearing.
AOT stated that Longkumer had served the Nagaland government for over 21 years in various assignments across the State.
While acknowledging that no public servant was above scrutiny, it said an officer’s professional standing and reputation should not be diminished on the basis of an untested representation.
According to AOT, Longkumer was prepared to cooperate fully with any lawful inquiry and present relevant facts and records before the competent authority.
The organisation appealed to the media, public representatives, civil-society organisations and social-media users to exercise restraint and avoid personal vilification or premature conclusions that could cause lasting reputational harm or prejudice a fair examination.
AOT reiterated that accountability must be upheld without compromising fairness, due process and individual dignity, and reaffirmed its commitment to truth, fairness, institutional integrity and justice.
