Concern is growing around Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany after Bild reported that the Belgian manager was taken to a hospital in Munich by ambulance on Friday.
According to the report, a helicopter had landed earlier at Bayern’s training ground on Säbener Straße. Further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been confirmed.
Sky Germany is reporting that Kompany collapsed at training.
Kompany had been battling a severe illness (reported to be a viral infection) and a hip issue ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League game against Arsenal, but he was cleared to return to the bench. Bayern Munich is now preparing for Sunday’s Bundesliga clash against SC Freiburg following Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League.
The most important thing is Kompany’s health and well-being. Understandably, Bayern Munich supporters are hoping that the situation is not serious and that the 40-year-old coach is receiving the care he needs.
There is no confirmed information yet regarding the reason for his hospitalization or whether it will affect his availability for Sunday’s match.
