The Directorate of Women Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), as part of its pre-rally activities directed by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended its grassroots engagement to hospitals and communities across Kaduna State, focusing on healthcare support for vulnerable persons and the empowerment of women.
The outreach team, led by Dr Betta Edu, conducted hospital visits and community medical outreach to bring support to residents and highlight the importance of accessible healthcare for vulnerable groups.
During the hospital visits, Dr Betta Edu was joined by Senator Binta Masi Garba, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, Hon. Elizabeth Ogenyi, Hon. Ada Ode, Hon. Gloria Akobundu and other members of the Directorate, alongside the Majority Leader of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Munirat Suleiman Tanimu.
The team interacted with patients, healthcare workers and hospital administrators, conveying a message of hope from the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who directed the Directorate to reach out to women and children in hospitals across Kaduna ahead of the campaign rally flag-off.
Speaking during the outreach, Dr Betta Edu said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had introduced significant interventions in the health sector and was pursuing further reforms to make healthcare more affordable and accessible to Nigerians.
She noted that pregnant women were benefiting from free maternal healthcare in selected hospitals across the country, including delivery services, Caesarean sections and medications. She also highlighted other interventions, including subsidised renal dialysis and cancer care.
Edu commended the First Lady for her healthcare interventions under the Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that her support for midwives’ training and the provision of equipment were important steps towards strengthening maternal healthcare and reducing maternal mortality in Nigeria.
The Directorate’s engagement highlighted the importance of compassionate humanitarian support, improved patient care, stronger community support systems and sustained attention to the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the First Lady for the gesture, while commending the Women Mobilisation Directorate for demonstrating care and solidarity. Some beneficiaries also pledged their support for President Tinubu’s re-election, expressing hope that free maternal healthcare services would continue and expand.
They further commended the President for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that the initiative had helped reduce the financial burden on families with children in tertiary institutions.
The outreach formed part of the Directorate’s broader grassroots engagement strategy, combining humanitarian support with public awareness of policies and programmes under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Organisers said the initiative reflected the Directorate’s commitment to reaching citizens directly and placing the concerns of women, families and vulnerable communities at the centre of its activities as it mobilises grassroots support for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital and Yusuf Dantsoho Memorial Hospital were the two beneficiaries of the compassionate hospital outreach, which underscored the Directorate’s commitment to community welfare, grassroots engagement and improved healthcare support.
The exercise further reinforced the importance of ensuring that vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, are not left behind in efforts to promote inclusive development under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
