A woman without a licence has allegedly been caught speeding with five children not wearing seatbelts in her car, including a four-month-old baby being held by a five-year-old.
The 36-year-old was pulled over in a Hyundai iMax on Brisbane Road at Redbank in Ipswich on October 9, after allegedly being clocked at 77km/h through the 60km/h zone.
Five children aged between four months and nine years old were allegedly in the back of the white van without appropriate restraints.
The woman was fined $6993 and hit with 23 demerit points. She was also charged with one count of driving without a licence.
“There is absolutely no excuse for putting children at risk like this. Every child must be properly restrained, every time, no matter how short the journey,” senior sergeant Jarrad Tyne said.
“An unrestrained child is incredibly vulnerable in a crash.
“Even at relatively low speeds, the consequences can be catastrophic, and a child simply cannot protect themselves if something goes wrong.”
