Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has reportedly been taken to a hospital in Munich after an emergency medical team was called to the club’s training ground on Friday.
According to Goal, citing German media outlets Bild and Sky, the 40-year-old Belgian is said to have collapsed after a training session at Bayern’s Säbener Straße facility.
A helicopter reportedly landed at the training ground amid the incident, while Sky reported that Kompany’s condition was “stable”.

Bayern Munich, however, had yet to issue an official statement confirming the reports or provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the coach’s hospitalisation.
Kompany had reportedly been battling a viral infection in recent days, which forced him to miss Bayern’s final training session and pre-match press conference ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Arsenal.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with the German champions continuing their European campaign without their head coach at the pre-match media activities.
At Tuesday’s press conference before the Arsenal match, Kompany’s assistant coach Aarin Danks stood in for him. Danks said: “It’s very important that he rests.” Kompany had, among other things, “felt pain in his legs”.
But the Belgian was back on the bench at the Allianz Arena for the match itself. Kompany explained his illness: “As a coach, you always want to do everything. I caught a pretty nasty virus last week, then of course I didn’t listen to my body, and eventually my body said: Now stop!”
