Lahore Traffic Police has launched a free two-day scooter riding training programme for female students to promote safe mobility and help women become more independent.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Sheerazi said female students can receive free training at designated driving schools across Lahore. Directives have also been issued to all school in-charges to arrange free training sessions, while school and college administrations can contact the traffic police to organise special classes for students.
Scooter training schools have been established at Liberty, Greater Iqbal Park, LOS Ferozepur Road and Manawan. A free driving course for women is also underway at LOS Ferozepur Road. Separate Gen Z counters have been introduced at the centres to facilitate female students.
During the two-day programme, expert instructors will provide practical scooter riding lessons, road safety guidance and awareness of traffic laws. Sheerazi added that more than 200,000 driving licences had been issued to motorcyclists this year, while additional measures are being taken to improve the safety of women riders on Lahore’s roads.
