Your laptop lacks an SD slot? This $10 Anker USB-C reader fixes that

Unless you have a business or creator model, your laptop probably doesn’t have SD or microSD slots. But no worries, because you can rectify that with a single versatile accessory. Anker’s USB-C SD/microSD card reader is on sale for $9.99 at Amazon, down from its original $17.99. That’s only a buck higher than its all-time lowest price, so you know it’s a real deal.

This card reader is as utilitarian as they come. It’s about the size of a typical thumb drive, so it’ll slip into a pocket and go with you anywhere. It has a USB-C connection, so it’s compatible with pretty much all but the oldest of laptops. It has both SD and microSD slots, so it’s effective for moving data from your dash cam, security cam, action cam, and more.

Some caveats to know before you buy. First, it has a theoretical cap of 5 Gbps, which means a maximum file transfer rate of 104 MB/s—not great for lots of 4K and 8K video. Second, while it does support both SD and microSD activity at the same time, you might experience slowdowns. Third, it may block neighboring ports depending on your laptop’s layout.

But for just $9.99, those trade-offs are well worth it if you can endure them. At 44% off and close to its lowest price ever, this Anker card reader is a no-brainer buy if you don’t have card slots in your laptop.
