Hansol Paper said on the 13th that it has earned a Platinum rating, awarded only to the top 1% of companies, in the sustainability assessment conducted by global ESG rating agency EcoVadis for the fourth consecutive year.
EcoVadis, founded in 2007, is a global environmental, social and governance rating agency. It assesses about 150,000 companies across more than 180 countries in four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Based on the results, it awards Platinum ratings to the top 1% and Gold ratings to the top 5%.
Hansol Paper has held the highest rating for four straight years since first earning Platinum in 2023. In this assessment, the company drew high marks for its systematic policies, execution capability and performance management across sustainable management overall, including climate change and water resource management, biodiversity and resource circulation systems, and responsible raw material sourcing.
The company also formally joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) this year, aligning itself with international sustainable development efforts. It plans to reflect the UNGC's principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption in its business activities and to continue strengthening an ESG management system that meets global standards.
"We will continue to link core ESG tasks — advancing our resource circulation system, reducing carbon emissions, realizing social value in safety and human rights, and managing our supply chain responsibly — to our business competitiveness to produce tangible results," a Hansol Paper official said.
